It’s been nearly three months since Florida schools implemented a statewide cell phone ban for all students during school hours, and local school districts say they’re already seeing results.
WINK Investigates spoke with teachers, administrators, and students at North Fort Myers High School, where the new law appears to be positively impacting classroom culture.
According to the Lee County School District, in the first month of the new policy, school administrators at North Fort Myers High confiscated 351 phones.
In September, there were 40 repeat offenders, and as of October, that number had dropped to 23. The steady decline, school leaders say, shows students are taking the law seriously.
